I'm a 57 Year old Disabled man. I have worked for 37.5 continuous years. This Podcast Chronicles the struggles I have while making the journey of life. From putting food on the table to looking after the car and cat. From doing the shopping and going to work. From going to the gym and socialising. And carrying out my political activism. I then keep the Diary of Real Britain to tell people of this journey. To tell them of the Britain I live in.

Episode 89 Monday 22nd September

Monday. Last friday evenings gym session was the last until after my wife's operation. All day I hold my wife's hand to remind her that I am there for her. At lunchtime we go out for lunch. We go to a garden centre and have lunch in their newly refurbished posh restaruant and then home. Tuesday. The morning is just the same as yesterday. But I receive a phone call from mum saying that she is offered a date for her hip operation. She asks if she cannot get hold of my younger brother would I be able to take her home. And I said yes. Wednesday. We just hole hands all day. We say goodbye for four weeks to my wife's care providers. I Cuddle up to my wife before bed. Thursday. We have been told today is the day that my wife becomes an inpatient. I ring the ward at 9.15 in the morning and then wait. After 6 hours we are still waiting I ring again. Apparently the has been some sort of miscommunication and we head for hospital at 5. Friday. The day of the operation. I make my way to the hospital in the afternoon and get there late due to parking issue's. My wife has gone to theater when I get there and I wait. The operation is over after 4 and I join my wife in recovery. I head for home at midnight. Saturday. In the morning I have a meeting and then I am refused permission to visit my wife so I visit my Uncle instead. Sunday. It is the first Sunday without my wife and I do the Usual things. Watch a bit of television then go and do the weekly shop. And then eat a ready meal Sunday Roast.
